Financing a college education is no easy task. Navigating
the college financial aid process is even harder. While all
colleges require students who wish to apply for financial
aid to complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid, some schools also ask families to complete the CSS
Profile Student Financial Aid Application along with their
own institutional financial aid application. Gaining an
understanding of what you can expect from the schools on
your college application list in terms of applying for
financial aid, can help maximize financial aid outcomes.
Most colleges and universities use financial aid as a
recruitment tool. Some forms of financial aid help a family
meet financial need, while others are based on academic
ability or some other skill such as music or athletics. Our

financial aid for which the student may be eligible and
